Usher Winslett - President

Usher Winslett, a long-time entertainment industry executive and attorney, is the founder and president of WhiteCap Group. Prior to forming WhiteCap, Winslett was Chief Operating Officer of DCN, one of the very few success stories among the slew of new-technology-focused entertainment companies to launch in the late '90s. Under Winslett's leadership, DCN built the world's largest catalog of live music recordings, released 20+ critically and commercially successful CDs, raised millions in venture capital financing, and sustained steady and dramatic revenue growth - all in the post-bubble economy and in the face of the general unraveling of the music business. That success ultimately led to the sale of the company to Dimensional Associates in Q2, 2003. Prior to joining DCN, Winslett was a principal in Razor & Tie Entertainment, which he helped build into a thriving multi-faceted media company that included a direct marketing division, a media-buying unit, and a record label with multiple Gold and Platinum releases. Winslett began his career practicing law with the New York firm Thacher Proffitt & Wood.

Winslett is a frequently cited authority, and speaker, on the impact of new technologies on the media and entertainment businesses. Interviews with Winslett have been featured in both consumer- and industry-focused publications and broadcasts, including Billboard, Music Connection, Silicon Alley Reporter, Harp Magazine, and the nationally syndicated television show "Audiofile." Winslett is also a regular speaker and panelist at media-industry events, and has been a guest lecturer in both MBA and undergraduate programs at NYU's Stern School of Business and Baruch's Zicklin School of Business.

Winslett's diverse background includes everything from starting and running an imported apparel company to managing a Congressional campaign to executive-producing multiple albums, music videos, and a short film.

Winslett graduated with honors from Washington & Lee University and New York University Law School. He is married with two children and lives in New York City.
